1. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Dhammapada: Buddha Teachings ("the App") handles information when you use the iOS app and its widget extension.
2. Data We Collect
We do not collect personal information directly through our own backend because the app does not require sign-in.
Data not collected by us
- Name, email address, phone number, mailing address.
- Contacts, photos, microphone recordings, precise location, or advertising identifier.
- Behavior profiles for advertising or third-party analytics.
3. Data Stored On Your Device
The following information is stored locally to provide app features:
- Bookmarks (saved verse IDs).
- Personal notes you write for verses.
- Reading history for quick resume.
- Display preferences (language, text size, line spacing).
4. Widget Data
To render "Verse of the Day" in the home screen widget, the app writes the selected verse text and reference to an App Group container shared between the app and widget extension.
5. In-App Purchases (Tip Jar)
The app offers optional consumable tip products through Apple In-App Purchase. Tips are voluntary and do not unlock features or content.
- Tip products are consumable and not restorable.
- Payment processing is handled by Apple, not by the app developer.
6. Third-Party Services
We do not integrate third-party ad SDKs or external analytics in the app. Apple may process limited transaction and diagnostics information under its own policies when you use App Store services.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
- On-device data remains until you delete it in-app or uninstall the app.
- You can use "Reset Bookmarks & Notes" inside Settings to remove personal data.
- Uninstalling the app removes local app data from the device.
8. Children
The app is intended for general audiences for educational and spiritual reading. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. International Data Transfer
Because we do not run a backend for personal app data, no app-specific cross-border transfer is performed by us.
10. Policy Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective date" above will be updated when changes are published.
